FAQ
Access to CRAWDADHow can I access CRAWDAD data or tools? You first need to register for full access to CRAWDAD data/tools to obtain a user id/password. You can find download links on each data/tool page (e.g., dartmouth/campus). Clicking a link and entering your id and password will start downloading. How can I cite CRAWDAD data or tools in my paper? When you write a paper that involves the use of CRAWDAD data/tools, we would appreciate it if you can cite it properly (as well as acknowledge CRAWDAD). For example, "We used the dartmouth/campus data set [1] from CRAWDAD for the analysis in Section 4. We collected our SNMP data using tools/collect/snmp/snmputil tool [2] from CRAWDAD." We have a "bibtex" entry field (see an example below) in metadata pages (e.g., dartmouth/campus) so that you can easily cite CRAWDAD resources in latex/bibtex environment.
@MISC{dartmouth-campus-2004-12-18,
author = {David Kotz and Tristan Henderson and Ilya Abyzov},
title = {{CRAWDAD} data set dartmouth/campus (v. 2004-12-18)},
howpublished = {Downloaded from http://www.crawdad.org/dartmouth/campus},
month = dec,
year = 2004
}
If you do not use bibtex, please include a reference with the same information: authors, title and version of the data set, date, and a URL where people can find the data or tool. Also, please send us a copy or pointer to your paper, so that we can list it in our bibliography. Not only does that help other users of the data but it helps you by advertising your paper to an interested audience. Contribution to CRAWDADHow can I upload and release my data or tools through CRAWDAD? If you already have your data or tools public on your reference web page so that any one can download them, then just let us know. We will download your data, create metadata and host them in CRAWDAD. Otherwise - if you want to make the first release of your data through CRAWDAD, then see the "How To Contribute" page. SearchHow can I search for most recent datasets collected using SNMP on 802.11 network? Go to basic search and use "Find datasets where any of 802.11 SNMP appear". How can I search for any datasets that were released in 2004 and were collected at Dartmouth College using SNMP? Go to advanced search and make a search after selecting proper search criteria, e.g., "dataset" for "category" field, a keyword "Dartmouth" for "name" field, "SNMP" for "collection" field, and "2004" for "release date" field. CRAWDAD AreasWhat are CRAWDAD Areas? We have set up web pages for special-interest "Areas" within the collection to encourage the community of those areas to exploit the CRAWDAD. For each area, we will appoint an "Area Editor" who seeks out new traces and tools in the area, edit the area wiki page, and more importantly encourage that community to come to CRAWDAD. See Areas page for details. CRAWDAD Datasets[dartmouth/campus]How can I tell from the tcpdump data which (MAC-) address belongs to a wireless interface?
